Profile

In our current culture, so many birthing people no longer have extended family to support them during this fourth trimester. While friends and family excitedly welcome new babies, most are unable to provide the care the birthing folk need during this transition. There are a myriad of changes that occur after birthing  parent and baby come home. With more parents having to return to work or care for other children, having dedicated support is invaluable to our birthing folk, family and community. I want to contribute to building positive, life-affirming foundations for families, and that begins with birthing folk. When they are cared for, they  are better equipped to care for baby and themselves.

I am a Detroit native born during the height of the Civil Rights Movement.  Service and community are my roots.  I have supported and been supported by a circle of women my entire life. I have two amazing adult children who allowed me to participate in the births of my two granddaughters. In the months to follow, I was able support my girls and care for my grand babies.

I am a lifelong community volunteer and advocate for women and children. I have had the good fortune to build a private library for at-risk girls, serve as a local and regional admin for a worldwide gift economy, volunteer for a local councilwoman’s campaign and serve in a variety of roles that I am truly grateful for.
